Admission Information and Requirements

Please read the below information before proceeding with the online application.

1. Introduction

The information contained in this document refers to minimum requirement for study at SACT. Apart from these minimum entrance requirements, SACT may however also determine additional entrance requirements according to its own policies and regulations.

Since it takes considerable time to comply with all the necessary requirements, it is advisable that applicants start with the application process as soon as possible. The duration of the academic year at SACT is from the last week of January to the end of November of each year.

2. Admission policy

It is the policy of SACT that all applicants who meet the minimum eligibility requirements and who file an application during the appropriate filing period, are considered for admission.

If the number of applicants exceeds the spaces available, the SACT may use criteria that exceed the minimum requirements to select learners. The SACT receives more applications that it has places available and the admission process is therefore competitive.

SACT does not guarantee any bursary to any applicant during the application process. SACT reserves and retains the right to decline to accept applications without notice. Please consider your application unsuccessful if you do not hear from SACT by 15 December.

The College will assist non-South African national applicants in obtaining the necessary study visa from the South African diplomatic mission (Embassy/High Commission) in their country of nationality by supplying the relevant mission with the necessary detail, medical coverage, etc. Application for travel documentation namely valid passport and study visa (i.e. completing the necessary application forms, submitting the necessary supporting documentation, etc.) will be the sole responsibility of the prospective learner. It is further the sole responsibility of each prospective learner to ensure that his/her passport together with all the relevant documentation required for the issuance of a study visa, are submitted to the relevant diplomatic mission at least 2 months before expected reporting date at the College. A study visa applicant may be required by the SA diplomatic mission to pay a refundable repatriation fee.   Please retain the receipt issued in this regard so as to reclaim the amount upon completion of studies at the College.

3. General

3.1 The College may, at its sole discretion, subject candidates selected on a shortlist to further screening which may include, but is not limited to, personal interviews, telephonic interviews and written tests.

Allocation of bursaries will be made at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors of SACT. In order to be considered for a bursary, a candidate must include with her application proof of income and expenditure of her household.

3.2 Please note that learners will NOT receive any kind of stipend/allowance/pocket money from the College. Learners are responsible for all their personal needs, such as toiletries, etc. Provision should therefore by made by learners for pocket money or some other kind of personal allowance of at least R350,00 per month. Learners should have access to a bank account for their personal financial needs and should make the necessary arrangements in good time. Non-South African applicants must take the necessary steps with regard to their financial matters and banking requirements before leaving their home country. Banks with ATM-facilities available locally are Standard Bank, ABSA, First National Bank, Capitec and Nedbank.

NON-SOUTH AFRICAN APPLICANTS PLEASE NOTE: when budgeting for personal costs learners are advised to include costs in respect of travel documentation as well as repatriation deposits (please contact the Home Affairs Department or the South African Mission in country of citizenship for further details).

Learners are required to supply certain training items and underwear of a type determined by the College, as well as leisure wear and items of personal nature. Refer to Extract from Learner Manual. Learners are advised when budgeting for personal costs, to include these costs in their budget.

3.4 Learners are responsible for their own transport/travel arrangements to and from the College. The latter include necessary travel documents (passport and study visas where applicable).

3.5 Medical services for South African nationals are available locally at a government sponsored clinic and day hospital upon payment of a once-off registration fee of R20.00 per person.

3.6 Due to the short duration of the academic year, the College roster provides for only one holiday break of approximately 10 days, which is usually scheduled after the mid-year evaluation. Transportation costs to and from holiday destination at the time of the mid-year holiday break as well as any other in-between transportation costs, are for the personal account of the learner.
